Yay! I’m done with my MFA from SCAD!

I now have my Master in Fine Arts degree in Motion Media Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. The degree is the result of more than 5 years of late nights and hard work.

Master’s Thesis

While pursuing my Master’s, I wrote a thesis on “The Role of Explanatory Motion News Graphics in Online Journalism.” The thesis explores how motion news graphics, a relatively new story-telling video format for news organizations, can boost readership in today’s fast-paced online news climate.

SCAD 2017 Commencement

The commencement was was held in the Savannah Civic Center in downtown Savannah. The stage was decorated with a multitude of lightbulb balloons, and there were several jumbo screens (one behind the stage and one above the graduates).

There were various inspirational speakers honoring the class of graduates, including SCAD co-founder and President Paula Wallace, and distinguished speaker and actor, John Malkovich.

The graduation concluded with a fantastic celebration with acrobats, dancers, a drumline, balloons, confetti, and a surprise musical performance by Andra Day singing her hit single “Rise Up.”

Big thanks to all of my family and friends for the support and encouragement through my journey to get this Master’s degree. It has been a fun ride, but it’s only the beginning! Now comes the fun part of continuing to learn and explore motion graphics and its impact on visual communication.
